  2. I really like this article and think maybe I should attach it to my scale that I'm obsessed w/ weighing myself on to remind myself that it's probably ok that I won't ever be a size zero! Thanks for posting, Ricky :).

  4. LOVED IT! "Some girls go to the gym, HOT girls go to Crossfit". I don't remember where I saw that but it's true!

  6. Great article, hit home about throwing out pills past the expiration date. I was just cleaning out my car last nite and found some crap that was supposed to make my cravings go away...the bottle went away in the trash :). What's that they say 1 of me is born every minute or every second anyway I broke the cycle!! Btw I still got/get those cravings....boo :)

  8. hells yeah, women of crossfit omaha! you beautiful she-beasts are a force to be reckoned with!

that's right, "she-beast." deal with it.

I'm resting today until I get well (physically, not psychologically) and then coming in tomorrow to destroy something. hoping to do 4 days in row.

  12. Got up to 58# and then did 20 with just the bar at the end; I thought I had this movement figured out but I think I need a lot more practice b/c today I didn't have it at all; great job to everyone at 6am!

  14. I was a little tentative on this one since the last time I did snatches my shoulder popped out.
    5x64, 3x74, 2x88, 1x98, 1x110, 1x110, 1x120, 1x120
I had to leave so only did 5x1. Shoulder feels great so next time I'll push a little harder.
Nice work to the early birds this morning.

  16. Nice work Cari :)

Don't get discouraged, the snatch always trips me up with its technical aspect as well.....I haven't done the hang snatch since June, so its been awhile - but looking forward to getting some work done on this lift....someday 100% bodyweight :)

  18. Happy Veterans Day!!!!!! :) I am so friggin tired of missing workouts so i tried to do a couple calisthenics in my room. Ya my gums started bleeding during it. so i guess i need a little more healing time. And im out of percocet :( so sad so sad

  22. Got up to 164 which is by far a PR for me. My technique..."hip contact"...was feeling really good today. Should be a nice bruise tomorrow.
  23. V Says:
  24. got up to 73# a couple of times and failed at 78 multiple times...had to keep trying it "just one more time." turns out that i am "slow" with the snatching... kylie was making fun of lindsey and I this morning and how slow we were with our movements and said it was like we would stop and smile at each other every time. HA! Lindsey and I also renamed this lift the turkey snatch because of joe's awesome demonstration this morning. Good job today 6 am-ers and especially good job to lindsey! it was fun this morn!!
  25. linds Says:
  26. V and I worked out together this morning, we got up to 73# on the "turkey snatch". V and I did about 10-12 reps with 53#, we worked on being powerful and getting contact with the bar. Nice work V!

  28. Thanks for letting me join you nooners...this was my first ever ;). Got to 68 tried 73 but no luck. Griping your hands out so wide is something I have to work on, that being said, it really helped me to practice with just the bar inbetween the reps. I still need lots of practice with these
  29. BC Says:
  30. Got up to 98# then had to drop back down to 88# for the last couple of sets. I'm really, really bad at these, I feel like I try to "over think" the movements as opposed to doing what Ricky said, which was "just get the f*cking thing up!" (or something to that effect). I'll keep workin' on 'em.

    Great job nooners!

  32. i was pissed when i left after the first wod because i got 82# but it was ugly. so i came back in at 4. i paid a whole lot more attention to technique and feel so much better. i didnt get a lot of weight but burned the proper form into my head. i am excited to do heavy snatches again(haha).
great effort mitches! you are a great 4pm partner.

  34. Everyone sounds so discouraged so this is going to just be mean....
I had a really good day today! I finally felt like my strength was working with my technique (neither of which came easily or quick). But I got up to 102# and tried 107# a couple times. I think I could have done it... maybe, but I was happy about 102 so I stopped.
Good work Mel! It is a really hard movement and took me a long time to feel comfortable with it.

I LOVE this article! Its nice that people think of strong, powerful CrossFit women as beautiful. It is a struggle sometimes to think big arms and lats and traps are pretty. It's hard to get over the social stereotype of what "beauty" is. But some of the women I strive to be like in the gym, and in life, have big, real muscles. Like Eva T and Jillian as well as Alison, Reba and Libby. These ladies are an inspiration and embody strength and beauty. I love the community we have where it is an honor to have bruises and calluses and to have actually bled during a workout. Great job to all the CrossFit Omaha she-beasts! And thanks!
  35. Mark Says:
  36. I got up to 132# tonight which is a PR by far. I tried 137 but failed and decided to drop to 110 and work on technique for a while. I think I am finally getting better at the snatch technique and, every time I do it, I can lift more. So I'm with Hannah, I am looking forward to the next heavy snatch WOD!
  37. Brandon Says:
  38. I hit 165 and felt that I had more in the tank, but failed at 175. I had Ricky "eagle-eye" my technique and give me a much needed pointer... I wasn't going quite wide enough on my grip. I WILL hit bodyweight next time! HAHAHAHA

    Sweet article. :-)

    Brandon
  39. hannah eileen Says:
  40. angela, i hate you just a little. but i agree. women with big muscles can still be beautiful!
  41. A Says:
  42. Ang, you rock. Way to go on the weight!

Contrary to popular belief, I have not deliberately missed strength days. Ask my boss! This work business certainly gets in the way of Crossfit.
So, I am pretty sure I can come in tomorrow. Heads may roll if I cannot. Sounds like everyone did a great job today!

  44. I eventually got up to 92lbs which was 73% of BW and my goal is bodyweight. It took awhile and my husband counted 95Lbs, but I am positive that I counted correctly this time!

I first got up to 87lbs, and had some problems with my technique, so I dropped back down to 82lbs for several reps and then worked up to 92lbs and called it good. I will be ready to break 100 next time! I feel that in the end it finally started to click a bit....

Addi looked awesome with her form tonight, like it was a breeze! Nice work!

  46. Just read everyone's posts after I posted my wod! I cannot believe people sound discouraged, sh*t this is a hard lift - you should all be proud! Its hard to generate power when a loaded barbell is just hanging in your hands and its just supposed to beautifully "FLY" overhead for you to get underneath and catch it in a perfect stance! That just even sounds crazy ;)

Ang - you rock! That is some good sh*t right there!

"She-beasts" always crack me up! I used to have a fellow rugby player who I called "the Brick House" - she was one heck of a force of nature - - strength impresses me, not the 90 lb runway models...

  48. Pretty sure I hit a mental wall at 73# today and couldn't break it dangit! Thanks Joe and Ricky for the help, I swear I'm gunna get it one of these days.

Ladies of Crossfit Omaha: you are all absolutely beautiful just the way you are! Don't ever doubt it!

  51. Addi Says:
  52. 107, if I added correctly.. I had 103 back in June, so just barely a PR.

My rijght shoulder's been bothering me lately, so I think it's time to take it easy on that for a while. (And to stop sleeping on it funny - I suspect that's the real culprit here.) If I hadn't been trying to watch my shoulder, I think I might have been able to get a little more weight up.

Thanks For Visiting!
