Rest Day
Warming up for activity or training is very important. Especially now that time is of the essence within our new system of warming up for classes. If you take the time to check out the video, you'll see that Diane attacks her GOATS first in the warm-up. These are the things that affect her most when working out.
Let's say, I'm running late today and don't have much time left for warming up before class actually starts. These are the things I make sure I get in. If I have more time, I'll start to go outside of my truly weak areas and hit some other areas that aren't that big of a problem but could use the addressing.
In the end, understand that mobility work is not warming up but only an aspect of warming up. It is actually, in my estimation, a way to make the rest of the warm-up more effective and allow you to get into better, less painful, positions while training. The warm-up should be geared towards increasing your heart-rate and the general temperature of the muscles, joints, and ligaments.
In your warm-up, include mobility work and then slowly ramp up the rest of the warm-up by picking up the speed, going from two feet to one foot, walking to jogging to skipping to actual jumping, and finally specific warmups for the movements in the workout such as empty bar work for the barbell lifts.
Stacie Tovar assists with Skutt and Ashley Gross assists with Gretna.
Here's the short story. Gretna hasn't lost a but maybe 4 times on the year. Two of those losses were at the hands of Skutt. Skutt on the other hand has had some injuries and lost some matches down the stretch as well.
In this quarterfinal, Gretna is the higher ranked team at #3 while Skutt is ranked #6.
I would like to send a huge shout out to both coaches and their respective teams.
Here's the kicker. The winning coach has a say in what an upcoming workout will be (possibly tomorrow's) whether that be the movements used or the actual workout. Their choice.
Give them both some luck and props for reaching this point. Good luck ladies......
Good luck volleyballers! Congrats on the success thus far!
