WOD
Surprise Games Format Workout

The workout starts by having everyone do as many pushups as possible in two minutes, use as many sets during the two minutes as needed, at the same time. From here, a list of athletes will be drawn by order of lowest amount of reps completed all the way to the most reps completed. There will be a guys list and a gals list.

This list will then determine the order in which you do the second part of the workout. The guy and gal with the least amount of pushups will go first and the workout will continue in this fashion until the last two athletes, or those with the most completed amount of pushup reps, go.

The second part of the workout will begin, approximately, 5 minutes after the 2 minute pushup cut-off.

One last note, the second part of the workout is not dead-lifts.

Post results and thoughts about the workout to comments.

Jon and I laid out the groundwork last night and now comes the fun part. Can you guess what the second part of the workout is?

  4. I was so excited until you said it wasn't deadlifts.

  6. This workout is all about technique, technique and technique which I don't have on squat clean thrusters. Def need to work on them and about every other lift for that matter. I had a really hard time even gripping the bar today. Dang you, darn pullups. I got 18 pushups and 77# for the squat clean thrusters. Great job 6am peeps. Lifting some massive weight. :)

  8. Got a whopping 10 pushups ... I thought awhile back pushups were getting better but now they seem worse again and I blame my diet being not as good ever since around July 4th weekend ... need to get back on track right now. Got up to 99 on squat clean thrusters; new PR for cleans and thrusters; was 92 before. Great job to everyone at 6am!!

  10. 40 pushups, 142# squat clean thrusters. I failed twice on 154# (fatigue and bad technique), but after resting a few minutes and focusing on getting under the bar properly I tried it again and knocked it out no problem (then failed on 164#). I was disappointed because 154# was my goal but that just shows how important technique and focus is. This WOD was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. Great job morning monsters!

  12. COOL new timer clock. I thought I could do more than 34 pushups in 2min, but shoulders were complaining after yesterday. Squat/clean Thrusters progression was fun to do. No PR, I think I could have gotten one more bar with a little more rest than 30 secs.

    Great Job 6am

  14. I am also a big fan of the timer. At least we didn't have to wait long to get one....
Today was fun. I did 34 pushups and only got to 121 for the squat clean/thruster. I failed 3 times at 131 on the thruster part.
Great job to everyone this morning, especially you guys that finished all 13 bars.

  16. 35 Pushups, 142 on the squat-clean thruster which is a PR of about 10 pounds for the thruster.

  18. Visited the Nooners today. There was a lot of Dudes in the class so I told Joe it was going to be good working out with more testosterone in the gym (Morning Monsters have a lot of chics). Joe said, 'Just because there's a lot of guys, doesn't mean there's a lot of testosterone.' I think the Nooners showed him! I think it was DJ... or RJ... or DR... that BARELY missed 220. I got (48PU) 186# so that was a PR (Thruster and Clean and Jerk). Pete had 70 pushups!

    Way to bring it Nooners!

  20. I surprised myself getting 32 push-ups, then got a new PR by completing the 109 bar. Previously for clean and jerk and thrusters, my PR was 103, so I was happy to get a little higher. Nice job everyone at 6am!

  22. Today was another fun day! This whole week has just been a different kind of fun in the gym!

Made it to 87#, got to the 92# bar and cleaned and squated it, but just couldn't push it overhead all the way! Sad since that is my 1 rep max weight! If there was more time to rest between sets I'm sure I could have got it... but that was the point of today... just the 15 secs between each so... I am happy with it!

Jake has me drinking the Pump Fuel before lifting days so my arms felt like they were gonna pop! Feels goooooooood!

NOON RULED TODAY! WOOP WOOP! :)
  23. Danielle Says:
  24. I cannot make because I'm workn @ cox classic all week so not sure if I will be able to make it in until monday :(
  25. Michael Says:
  26. 47 pushups :(
    164# squat clean thruster

I don't know if it was yesterday's pullups that taxed my arms, but I just couldn't push out more. 47 is abysmally low for me, especially in 2 minutes. :(

The 164# was alright. That's my 1RM for thrusters, anyway, so I'm not sad. It would have been REAL nice to PR, though.

    Good job, 4:30!
  27. Mel C Says:
  28. I liked it. 30 pushups. 99# squat clean thrusters. I tried to 109 after everyone and got it. Couldn't muster up the next bar. New thruster pr though by a huge 2 lbs.
  29. Anonymous Says:
  30. I did 27 pushups and 121# on squat clean thrusters. I failed on 131# twice; could clean it and squat it but couldn't get the thruster part. I tried to do it again afterwards and failed:(

  32. Fun WOD!!! I attempted 250lbs for the "tie breaker" and I had it overhead, but my right arm was being uncooperative. :-)
    Pushups = 63
    Squat Clean Thruster = 220lbs

  33. Addi Says:
  34. I liked this one a lot (even if it wasn't deadlifts).. I would have pushed a little harder on the pushups, though, if I knew I was so close to Ang. :)

    Pushups - 31
    SCT - 131

Tried 3 times on 143 - just couldn't get it overhead. Would have been a 1-pound thruster PR. Sad news for me. :) Overall, pretty happy with my performance, though - I was able to squat clean all the way up to 131, which is pretty damn good for me.
  35. Joe C Says:
  36. 56 pushups and 213lbs on SCT. 8lb pr yay. i got to the last bar and barely missed twice. but just couldnt lock out. i love cleans! i was suprised my hand didnt really hurt. well after it did haha. great job everyone! see yall tomorrow :-)
  37. Paula Says:
  38. Had a great time in Vegas, but good to back at CFO!!
Did 34PU and 99# SCT. Tried 109 multiple time but couldn't get underneath. Piss me off! I leave for another girls weekend early tomorrow am to Lewis and Clark. Have a great weekend everyone!!! I've missed you all. I'll be back all next week. Yeah!
    Nice work 4:30!!
  39. Jordan Says:
  40. 40 pushups (sad). 164 lbs thrusters. Alomst had 174 on my 3rd try. couldnt get my left arm to straighten out.
  41. Mark Says:
  42. 57 pushups... I was hoping for more like 65-70 range. Then I got 198lbs for the SCT. I tried 213 but failed to lock it out.

    Fun workout!!
  43. BigD Says:
  44. 61 pushups, set a PR with 176. Failed out on 186 twice.
