Ricky Frausto Filed Under:

WOD
For time:
50 Double Unders
50 Pushups
40 Double Unders
40 Kettlebell Swings, 2 pood
30 Double Unders
30 Wall Balls, 20 pound ball
20 Double Unders
20 Pull-ups
10 Double Unders
10 DB Man-Makers, 35 pound dumbbells

Only catch is that at the bottom of each pushup, you have to touch one side of your face to the floor simultaneously along with the rest of your body. If you don't touch the face, the pushup doesn't count.

The cut-off is 17 minutes.

Post time to comments.

This demonstrates what I am looking for at the bottom of each ball slam. Arms are straight, back has maintained the natural lumbar curve, and heels are flat. The load of both the ball and Reba's body-weight are evenly distributed over the middle to back part of the foot. It's textbook.

  8. scaled to 25# DBs for the manmakers. still damn tough. 15:35. I never thought I'd say this, but DUs are my saving grace these days.

Nice job, 6am. Alan--you smoked this one, brother!

  10. Wow I never thought being called a 'monster' could be such a compliment ;)

The first thing I thought of when I read this WOD was "wow angela is gonna kill this workout" - she is like the double under queen!!!

I just hope I get my grove going on the double unders or this could be a horrible workout for me - see you all later......

also - its really getting hard to concentrate at work these days with all this holiday spirit starting to trickle in - love it :)

  12. Looks like I am going to miss this WOD today. I have a dinner with some people at work tonight and I doubt it will be over by 6:30.

Anyone down to make this one up with me later this week?

  14. DNF all weight Rx'd
I finished all but 5 man-makers (alas I am still a boy). I need to work on consistency with DU's.
Does anyone have any good ideas for pre or post workout meals? I feel I should eat something in the mornings before the WOD, but am not sure what.
Nice work to everyone this morning, way to push through.

  16. what the heck is a man maker?
  17. ZachR Says:
  18. Grab two dumbells of manageable size for rows/dumbell squats...

the man-maker is a jump-squat-thrust/body-builderesque based exercise so most positions resemble those...

    1) start in the push-up position with hands on db's, complete a push up.

    2) row one of the db's after you're in the up position of the push-up, then place db back on the ground and do another push-up.

    3) repeat 2) but with your other arm performing the row at up portion of push-up

    4) jump your feet near your hands (just like a squat thrust).

    5) clean and press the db's

    6) after the press bring db's to waist height and squat down until you can rest db's on deck slightly in front of your body.

    7) jump back into push up position and repeat.

  20. I was planning on doing this tonight but something came up and now I can't make it. I will have to make this up on the next rest day.
  21. kahrs Says:
  22. For the man maker we are not doing the row portion.

And this was a DNF for me, combination of sucking at DU's and still being sick. So I blame my DNF on Addi since she got me sick.
  23. BC Says:
  24. DNF, Rx'd. Missed it by 7 man makers. I'm pissed, and I'm going do this again - and complete it in time - on a rest day, probably next Tuesday if my math is right.
  25. paul Says:
  26. I always have a glass of 1% milk before 6am CF. I also try to have a big glass of water as soon as I wake up because I always wake up kind of dehydrated. I sometimes eat a whole-grain muffin before working out at 6am, or some fruit in cottage cheese (and maybe protein powder for flavor) if I am awake enough to cut the fruit. Today it was just one slice of whole grain bread with peanut butter. I know that's not very Zone of me, but I think it works for me.

After, I make an omelet with 2 whole eggs and an egg white, and some kind of meat (usually ground turkey) and some fruit. I'm guessing it works out to about 6 blocks of protein.

  34. DNF. Made it to 18 Pull ups. I am happy to say that my pushups are getting better. I used blue & tan bands, but no elevation. So, progress, that's exciting.

Finishing with 10 Man Makers was horrible. There were some great finishes at the 5:30 class tonight. Good work everyone.

  38. Completed but DNF by the 10 manmakers in the alotted time. I am really p*ssed about my double unders - I knew I was off on my count when I started my 30 wall balls and wondered why I just finished doing 40 double unders?? So my double under break down was
50/50/40/20/10...evens out to the same, but it just felt like it took FOREVER........

My foot that started out asleep and tingly is now almost my whole leg of a weird feeling charlie horse....I think I need to lay off that coffee ;)

And Reba, next time I'll just throw the competition so we can watch Ricky sweat. Double or nothing?
  49. Anonymous Says:
  50. Also, great job 6:30 class and those that kept going after time was up.
  51. Steve Says:
  52. Hmmmmmmmmm, Reba. If that numbness and tingling feeling is moving from your foot up your leg, you may have a pinched nerve. Did you do something to bring it on?
  53. Gdawg Says:
  54. DNF in the 17 minutes but finished the rest after a short break...did everything Rxd except for the DU's...i REALLY need to start practicing those everyday! great workout 6:30...everyone fought and pushed hard! i'm gonna sleep good tonight!!

  56. I would really like to know who put a curse on the "magic" jump rope because I sucked at DU's today.

DNF, not even close. I would like to do this one again sometime. I got 7 pullups I think.....booo!!!

I had a real hard time getting my HSPU's after that work-out, I must be doing something wrong.
  57. Anonymous Says:
  58. I was looking forward to this workout all day... and it was worth the wait! I finished in 15:30 or so. This was really hard. But I do have to say that the cheek to floor did not make the pushups harder. Which means I usually do them ok. Or I fu**ed these up too. Great job 6:30! Tovar we are totally gonna get you one of these days!

Thanks For Visiting!
