Technique vs. Intensity

Ricky Frausto Filed Under:
Here is another video from the CrossFit Journal for your enjoyment. You always hear Joe and I talk about technique but there comes a point in time where you have to push the intensity up realizing that there may be a break in form. Understand that this break in form comes as you near the finish line not on rep 2 or 3. Think about it this way, if you are a nascar driver that is worried about crashing into the wall you will never even come close to winning a race. There will always be that probability of crashing but the eye is on the prize, elite fitness. So what I am saying is, never lose your technique but don't let that stop you from pushing so hard you forget where you are. You have to find a fine line between both tech. and intensity. Trust that you will hold steady (technique) even if you decide to jump of the building (intensity). Let Joe and I decide if you are doing it with less than optimal technique and we will slow you down and ask you to re-evaluate your form. You worry about intensity. Really listen to what Coach Glassman has to say in this video as no one explains it better than him. Click the picture to view the video.

Saturday's from now on, until further notice is given, will be Friends and Family for Free Day. As I have mentioned before, bring anyone you know in for some CrossFit fun. Also, if you are not a member but follow this site and are not intimidated please feel free to come in and meet everyone and get in a free workout as well.

NOTICE: There may be some basketball games going on tomorrow but I am not sure of what time. It may be in your best interest to leave the house a bit earlier than usual in order to find good parking. We will start classes a little bit later than usual if the games are at the same time in order to wait for you. I would also recommend driving down the access road right alongside the weightroom and parking next to the stadium (all the way down at the bottom). I have talked with security about this before and got the okay.

WOD
With a continuously running clock do one pvc pipe overhead squat and one no-pushup burpee the first minute, two pvc overhead squats and two no-pushup burpees the second minute, three pvc overhead squats and three no-pushup burpees the third minute... continuing as long as you are able. If you have the nuts try this one with full burpees and try and get past 10 rounds.

Use as many sets each minute as needed.

Post number of minutes completed to comments.

  4. Good... and luckily not as hard as last nite's. Made it completely through 11 and part-way thru 12.

Thanks For Visiting!
