For the Love

Ricky Frausto Filed Under:
The article below was written by Jon Gilson of AgainFaster.com. He is an awesome writer as you may have noticed from some of the other articles he has put together that I have posted on here. This short article explains the aura of CrossFit through his eyes as he is a member of CrossFit Boston. I bet you will read this, if you are a current member, and relate to it immediately. If you are a new visitor to our site and/or wondering if CrossFit Omaha is for you then read the article and where it says CrossFit Boston replace it with the words CrossFit Omaha to get an idea of what we are and how much fun we are having becoming the fittest people on earth.

For the Love of The Game - by Jon Gilson

Last night, as we were pulling up to the Facility, Sam articulated a thought that I’d taken for granted.

Sitting in the chalk-stained interior of her car, surrounded by old sneakers and discarded espresso cups, and she told me she loved Crossfit.

“Unlike anything else,” she said, “I’ve never regretted coming here.”

I knew exactly what she meant, and it has relatively little to do with the outward effects of fitness. It isn’t a product of weight loss, or muscle tone, or the superficial effects of intense exercise. The love of Crossfit is a love of community, character, and achievement.

WOD
Today's workout requires that you find someone and challenge them to a game of whatever your good at and then follow that up with a game of something their good at. World Class Fitness requires that we regularly learn and play new sports. The beauty of this workout is that it can be anything you want it to be so long as you decide who is better at the other person's favorite sport/game/etc.

Post what sports/games/etc. you played to comments.

  2. Good article. I personally love our crossfit community. And I love knowing that if I ever go to a crossfit out of town while travelling, I'll be instantly welcome.

Rest day for me, but next time we have a WOD like this, if anyone wants to learn squash, just holler.

  4. squash, huh paul? i'm in! and as for our crossfit community- i love it as well. everyone has the character and work-ethic that is hard to find in the average person. we've got an awesome group! i had limited room and time today, due to large amount of time i had to spend playing with 4-wheelers on our ranch, so i did:

    3 rounds
    50 air squats
    7 man-builders with 15 lbs
    50 sit-ups
    30 sec handstand
