Equal Billing

As you guys discussed yesterday's article we must give equal billing to those that are sickly thin in the crazy world of modeling.

Skinny Models Out, Plus-Size In?
Whitney Thompson's 'Top Model' Win Could Usher in a New Era

Could stick-thin models be on their way off the runway?

That's what some are wondering after Whitney Thompson became the first plus-size model to win "America's Next Top Model" last week.

Thompson, 20, is a size 10. She's not at all fat by conventional standards; she's slimmer than the 34 percent of Americans older than 20 who are obese. But compared with the impossibly thin models dominating runways around the world, she's big, and she's considered plus-size in the modeling industry. She's heard that her entire career.

"I've stood there in the middle of an agency with everyone pointing at me and saying 'four more inches off the hips would be great,'" Thompson said. "I don't recommend any girl putting herself through that, but I did and I stand here unchanged, physically.

"Right before I left to do the first episode in L.A., I was with one of my best friends and she said, 'You're fat. You are not going to make it in this competition,'" she continued. "So every week that I made it, I was like, 'Ha!' Obviously, we're not friends anymore."

WOD
For time:
1 Mile Run
100 Wall Balls (20#/15#)

This workout can be partitioned in any way you deem necessary to finish in the fastest time. It's a strategy workout in which each person is given complete control over how the reps of both movements are to be completed so as to try and finish before anyone else. Obviously, the most apparent break-up is 4 rounds of a 400 meter run followed by 25 wall balls but is this the best path to the quickest time? There are a number of ways to attack this and I am eager to see the different approaches taken. Is it strategy, plain will to finish, or both that produces the fastest time.

  6. My scaled version was 800m and 50wb. Time 11:50 I did the whole run first then the wbs. I felt great (after I could breath again) This was the most I have run in a long time, and I can't wait till I can go the whole mile. Next time I would do half of the run, all the wbs and then the other half of run. BTW if that model is fat then there is something wrong with my eyes. Everyone have a nice holiday (some of us have to work) and good luck with the challenge.

  8. Went for 25 WB's then the 400, four times. I don't know where it came from but this felt great I did a lot better than I expected, 12:18. I think it had something to do with running inside and doing WB's first.

  16. i did the same as josh with 25 and 400. i didnt have to break up the first 3 sets of wb's which i was extremely excited about (the 4th set was 15 and 10). once again, ricky and joe are convincing me that i need to run more. sucked. i finished in 15:10 with a lighter ball. it was fun though...then a nice long walk afterwards. :) great job to everyone this morning! jim, welcome to this craziness! have a good weekend.

  20. 14:03 It seems like the people that ran outside were a few minutes slower than the inside people... it must have been the transition time or something.
I broke it up with 50 wbs and an 800
